ZZ Top - Tres Hombres (1973).

Tears For Fears - Songs from the Big Chair (1985).

New Order - “The Perfect Kiss" (Fac 321).

One of the greatest dance club singles ever and New Order perform the song live, which makes this video even more badass.

Made in Sheffield: The Birth of Electronic Pop.

Documentary on the rise of synthpop in post-punk Sheffield, England. With music and interviews from Cabaret Voltaire, Human League, Heaven 17, ABC, John Peel, Jarvis Cocker and more…

New York Dolls - New York Dolls (1973)

Kiss - Kiss (1974).

Sonic Youth - A Thousand Leaves (1998).

This is a Goo Goo Dolls mix I made on Grooveshark a few years back. I don’t believe in “guilty pleasures” when it comes to music, but these ’90s pop tunesmiths would probably be categorized as such in many music collections.
Well, I just love these songs and I can’t say that about too many bands whose music can be heard playing in malls throughout Middle America.
I also find it interesting that John Rzeznik & Co. were able to put a radio-friendly spin on their (obviously apparent) Replacements influence and ride it to the upper reaches of the Billboard charts. Side note: Paul Westerberg co-wrote “We Are the Normal” with the Goo Goo Dolls for 1993’s Superstar Car Wash.
Here’s the tracklist (enjoy):
1. “There You Are” (1990)
2. “Girl Right Next to Me” (1993)
3. “We Are the Normal” (1993)
4. “Stop the World” (1993)
5. “On the Lie” (1993)
6. “So Far Away” (1993)
